UGRAMM DIRECTOR TO WORK WITH POWER STAR

The box office hit Ugramm that was released early this year. It not only set new standards for Kannada films, but also provided a boost to the careers of debutant director Prashanth Neel and actor Sri Murali. Last Friday, the film completed 50 days.  Speaking on the occasion, Prashanth says, “It is celebration time for Sri Murali, as one of his movies has crossed the 50-day mark after 10 years, and we as a team are delighted.”

The director will soon be taking up a much more challenging task of directing Puneeth Rajkumar. Ask him about the new project and he says, “I am still on a high with the success of Ugramm and I don’t want to dilute the excitement by talking about my next project. It is great news that I have been given the opportunity to direct Puneeth, who has given me a free hand on how I want to show him in the film. I have two subjects in mind and I will be discussing them with him soon. We are also waiting for the election  to get over. By then, we will have a clear picture to make the announcement, which will probably be on April 24.”.

Puneeth, who is working with Pavan Wodeyar’s on the upcoming Dheera Rana Vikrama, had plans to simultaneously start a movie with director Suri, which we hear is now getting delayed. The Power Star liked the direction in Ugramm and is keen to work with Prashanth. Meanwhile, we hear Sri Murali will soon start work with another director, after which he plans to join Prashanth again for another thriller.

On the status of the Tamil and Telugu remakes of Ugramm, Prashanth says, “I have given the remake rights to the producers of both languages and they are looking out for actors who can be part of the project. As the film fraternity is busy campaigning for various parties this season, we have stalled things for a while. Now that I will be directing Puneeth’s film, I don’t know whether I can make time to go to other languages. However, if time permits, I will make the move. I am not bound by any contract to direct the remake in Telugu and Tamil.”
